📖 Biographie :  Alexis était le fils d’un noble romain. Au jour de ses noces, il s’enfuit pour vivre dans la pauvreté et la prière à Édesse en Syrie, refusant la gloire terrestre. Reconnu comme un « homme-de-Dieu », il revint à Rome déguisé en mendiant et vécut sous l’escalier de la maison paternelle sans révéler son identité. Il ne fut reconnu qu’après sa mort grâce à un parchemin racontant sa vie d’ascèse radicale. Modèle de renoncement, son culte se développa fortement au XVIIe siècle.

📖Biography  : Alexis was the son of a Roman nobleman. On his wedding day, he fled to live in poverty and prayer in Edessa, Syria, rejecting worldly glory. Known as a “Man of God,” he returned to Rome disguised as a beggar and lived under the staircase of his family home without revealing his identity. He was only recognized after his death through a scroll recounting his life of radical asceticism. A model of renunciation, his cult grew popular in the 17th century.
